5 TIPS FOR NEW MOTHERS

From our community of inspirational women, here are 5 tips that every new mother should know..

1. Trust  your instincts

The best advice for a new mother is to trust her instincts. As a new parent, it's easy to second-guess yourself since you've never done anything like this before. However, follow your instincts and your mother's intuition. You were born with the skills required to be a mother. That implies you should believe those internal nudges that tell you something isn't quite right or that everything is great. Don't question yourself!

2. Know you are still learning

Parenting is a learning experience and there is no handbook. You must embrace the fact that no matter how many books you've read, you will not have it all figured out from the start. In truth, you'll never understand everything. Allow yourself to make errors and learn along the way. Your child does not require an ideal parent. They just require a present parent who is trying their best and improving every day.

3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help

As much as every mother hopes to do everything themselves, it simply is not feasible, that is why we advise new mothers to seek assistance. In the early days of parenthood, when your body is recovering and you're getting back into the swing of things, asking for help is especially vital. As a mother, your life may become quite hectic. During this difficult time, lean on your partner, family, and other people you trust. It's quite acceptable and natural to seek assistance while you sort things out.

4. Allow others to help you

It's one thing to ask for assistance; it's quite another to accept the assistance that is provided. The fact is that not everyone will behave in the same manner as you. That's OK.  Your home may not be cleaned the way you choose, but it will be clean. Allow people to assist you in their own unique way to relieve you of a load. Consider employing someone to assist you if you are able. Meal delivery, cleaning services, laundry services, and other such services are examples. Allowing people to assist you is one of our top first-time mum advice.

5. Don’t rush your recovery

Although you may believe that your body may just resume normal activities, this is not the case. Even if you believe you are capable of conquering the world, listen to your doctor and rest instead. You've just witnessed one of the greatest miracles in history. Your body requires time to heal. Don't hasten your recuperation or, worse, provoke a setback by overextending yourself. Allow yourself time to recover.
